MARINA BAY, Singapore — Lando Norris set the pace for McLaren during Friday’s second practice session for Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Course.
Norris turned a best lap of 1:30.727 to claim the top spot in the session, outrunning Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who was second at 1:30.785.
“The pace was good,” Norris said. “I think we are doing what we expect to be at the front and be with Ferrari. It was a very nice lap. Charles was only .8 behind. I was hoping to have a much bigger gap than what I had quite honestly, which means Ferrari is very quick.”
The second Ferrari with Carlos Sainz at the controls was third, while Yuki Tsunoda was fourth quick for RB Honda RBPT.
Norris’ McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri rounded out the top five.
It was another frustrating day for Red Bull as Sergio Perez was eighth and point leader Max Verstappen could do no better than 15th on the grid.
Leclerc was quickest during the opening practice earlier in the day.
