Leclerc Puts Ferrari On Top In Monaco

MONACO — Charles Leclerc, who calls Monaco home, turned the fastest lap during the second Formula 1 practice session Friday for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Despite a red flag after Zhou Guanyu contacted the barrier in the first practice, the second session got under way and drivers quickly got up to speed.

Leclerc turned the standard with a lap of 1:11.278 in his Ferrari, while Lewis Hamilton was second quick for McLaren.

Fernando Alonso was third for Aston Martin, with point leader Max Verstappen fourth in a Red Bull.

Lando Norris, who won the Grand Prix of Miami, was fifth quick for McLaren.

Several drivers, including Yuki Tsunoda, Oscar Piastri and Verstappen clipped the walls during their runs, but all escaped with minor damage.

Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate, Carlos Sainz, was sixth.
