BAKU CITY, Azerbaijan — Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc turned the quickest lap during Friday’s second practice session for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Leclerc recovered from several issues to turn a best lap of 1:43.484 and outrun Red Bull driver Sergio Perez by a mere .006 seconds for the top spot during the second session of the day, which was run in warm conditions.
Lewis Hamilton turned the third best lap for Mercedes, while Carlos Sainz was fourth in the second Ferrari machine.
Oscar Piastri was fifth for McLaren, while his teammate, Lando Norris, could do no better than 17th.
Championship leader Max Verstappen turned the fastest lap in the first practice for Red Bull, but stopped the clocks in sixth in the final session.
