ZANDVOORT, Netherlands — Ferrari teammates Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz led Friday’s abbreviated second practice session for the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort.
Leclerc led the session with a best lap of 1 minute and 10.902 seconds with Sainz .154 seconds behind him.
The session was shortened because of a pair of mechanical issues involving Sebastian Vettel and Formula 1 point leader Lewis Hamilton. Vettel had engine issues and Hamilton encountered oil system problems and made only two laps during the session.
Esteban Ocon was third quickest for Alpine Renault, while Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, Valtteri Bottas was fourth.
Max Verstappen was fifth for Red Bull with Fernando Alonso sixth in the second Alpine Renault.
Vettel was 10th and Hamilton 11th.
