KNOXVILLE, Iowa – Logan Seavey just keeps piling up the dollars thanks to iRacing.
Tuesday night at the virtual Knoxville Raceway, Seavey raced to his fourth major victory on the service since March 25, as well as his second $1,000 World of Outlaws iRacing Invitational win in a row.
It was his most dominant performance, yet, too. Seavey led all 35 laps at Knoxville to win in a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car just one night after triumphing in a Morton Buildings Late Model.
Seavey defeated Brett Michalski by .809 seconds after a late-race caution set up a green-white-checkered finish, racing to the win in the No. 19 AME Electrical sprint car.
Seavey made his night look easy, setting fast time, winning his heat race and then leading all 35 laps from the pole, but he said afterward that he never felt too comfortable as the track changed.
Therefore, to stay out front, he went to his real-life notebook and a tactic employed by one of the best ever at Knoxville in order to prosper.
“That track was really really tricky,” said Seavey, of Sutter, Calif. “The top was way too treacherous. I knew my car was really good in the middle. We did a couple of practice races. I was most happy running right through the middle, like we see (10-time World of Outlaws champion) Donny (Schatz) do so many times around Knoxville. That’s where my car seemed to be happy.
“Luckily I got a good enough qualifying lap to get me up front and get me away from everything and our speed was able to show there in the feature.”
Seavey has now won two World of Outlaws sprint car invitationals, a World of Outlaws late model invitational and an eNASCAR invitational at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in the past two weeks.
It’s a resume that has suddenly made him one of the most diverse drivers on the service and one that he’s particularly proud of.
“Hopefully we can keep the roll going,” he said with a smile. “There’s a lot of money still up for grabs this week.”
Pennsylvania’s Brett Michalski crossed the line second after fellow PA Posse member Danny Dietrich threw a Hail Mary slide job into turn three on Seavey at the white flag and nearly crashed as a result.
Tony Gualda completed the podium, followed by Christopher Bell and Kevin Swindell.
Chase Briscoe was sixth, with Cox, Balog, Bergman and Dietrich filling out the top 10 at the finish.
However, Dietrich failed to provide verification that he was driving his virtual race car after the event – a violation of World of Outlaws iRacing procedures – and was disqualified from his finish for that reason.
That dropped Dietrich to last in the 22-car field, elevating David Gravel to a top-10 finish.
The World of Outlaws IRacing schedule continues Wednesday night with another visit to Knoxville for the week, as well as a second week in a row as the headliner for FS1’s Wednesday iRacing block at 8 p.m.
