MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – iRacing World of Outlaws Sprint Car World Championship point leader Alex Bergeron kept his season momentum going with a big victory Saturday at the virtual Williams Grove Speedway.
Bergeron started on the pole and led from start to finish to win the 40-lap Speed Shift TV Champions League sprint car feature at the half-mile dirt oval, taking home $1,000 for his efforts.
The Drummondville, Quebec young gun swept the night, setting the fastest time in qualifying and winning his heat race before his picture-perfect performance in the main.
“We had high pressure from behind at times (during the heat), but to go out and win by three seconds in the feature says a lot, I think,” Bergeron said. “The car felt good and the bottom was there when we needed it to be. That’s where I’ve always felt confident. No one was quite able to run the bottom like I seemed to be able to and it paid off for us.”
Saturday’s feature was slowed by caution three times for a combined total of nine laps.
Oregon sprint car ace Tanner Holmes chased Bergeron all the way, but had to settle for the runner-up position in his familiar No. 18. Hayden Cardwell completed the podium.
Rickey Sanders and Cole Neuhalfen finished fourth and fifth, respectively, followed by Davin Cardwell, Alex Smolders, Chris Sabescay, Chris Webster and Devin Mayo, a regular photographer for SPEED SPORT and Sprint Car & Midget.
