ZYLA: The Racing Briefcase

As for scheduling, the Indy car race could be run Saturday night after pro qualifying. And as for race tracks, IndyCar already races at facilities that have adjoining drag strips. This fan base could be shared on a doubleheader weekend, increasing the strength of both organizations. Once the Indy car fans get a taste of a three-second nitro run and the drag racing crowd sees the Dallara Hondas and Chevy go toe to toe, it has to be a win-win deal.

In ending, it’s easy to give opinions. It’s much more difficult to make them work in the real world of major league motorsports. Yet for the strength of both NHRA and IndyCar, I’d love to see some novel marketing ideas like an NHRA PPV event and an IndyCar/NHRA doubleheader weekend. It could prove beneficial to both entities.
