The Champion Racing Oil/Hoseheads.com Central PA Sprint Cars season came to an end on Nov. 14 at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Freddie Rahmer won the feature for his eighth win of the year, while Danny Dietrich won the Central PA Sprint Car points title by just seven points over Anthony Macri.

It marked Dietrich‘s third series title in the last four years.

The series title was still undecided going into the final race at BAPS Motor Speedway. Point leader Dietrich left the race after a tangle with Lucas Wolfe. Second-place point-runner Macri had to finish the race in second to knock Dietrich from the series point lead, and that is where Macri ran for much of the race.

In the closing laps Macri slipped to fourth, leaving Dietrich as the 2020 Central PA Sprint Cars champion.

The season got off to a slow start with all of the COVID-19 restrictions and cancellations this year. The tracks in Central Pennsylvania still managed to get 78 races completed, of which it was possible for a driver to race 67 times.

A record 101 drivers scored points this season, with a total of 28 different drivers scoring wins. A total of 18 of the winning drivers were local regulars, while four were World of Outlaws regulars, two All Star regulars, and four ran their own schedules racing where and when they wanted.

First-time winners in the series were two locals and two travelers in Jeff Halligan, Jason Shultz, Sheldon Haudenschild, and Spencer Bayston.

Champion Dietrich and the Gary Kauffman-owned Sandoe‘s Fruit Markets No. 48 scored 12 wins with 40 finishes in the top 10. Second place Anthony Macri raced to nine wins and 45 top-10‘s in the Macri Concrete No. 39m, the most in the series.

Third-place Rahmer had 44 top-10 runs, with eight wins. Brent Marks ended the season fourth in points, with three wins and 41 top-10 finishes in the CJB Motorsports No. 5.

With Pennsylvania getting shows in while much of the country wasn‘t, many traveling teams finished in the top 10 and 20 of the points.

Kyle Larson finished fifth in the points, competing locally 24 times in Paul Silva‘s No. 57, with a worst finish of sixth. He had 12 wins, tying Dietrich in that category.

Lance Dewease was sixth in the Kreitz No. 69k, with six wins and 29 top-10 finishes. Brock Zearfoss was seventh, with 28 top-10 finishes. Dylan Cisney placed eighth on the season, with two wins and 22 top-10‘s.

Logan Wagner was ninth, with one win and 19 top-10‘s, and Brian Montieth rounded out the top 10 with one win and 18 top-10‘s.

Chase Dietz and 2018 point champion Lucas Wolfe ended the season tied for 11th, 39 points out of the top 10. Travelers Aaron Reutzel, Rico Abreu, David Gravel, and Logan Schuchart all finished in the top 20.

Champion Racing Oil, Hoseheads.com, Maxim Chassis, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Capitol Renegade, Fast Tees, and J&S Fabrication all contributed to the 2020 point series.
