HOLLAND: Central PA Points

The Champion Racing Oil/Hoseheads.com Central PA Sprint Cars season ended at BAPS Motor Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Champion Racing Oil/Hoseheads.com Central PA Sprint Cars season ended at BAPS Motor Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 13.

It started at Lincoln Speedway in February, with Tim Wagaman standing in victory lane. Brent Marks came away with the victory for his 11th point series win of the year, while Anthony Macri claimed the series championship.

It was Macri‘s first Champion Racing Oil/Hoseheads.com Central PA Sprint Cars championship. Macri finished second to Danny Dietrich last year, only seven points behind. Dietrich finished second this year, but was more than 100 points behind Macri.

One hundred and eight drivers earned points in the series this season. That breaks the previous record of 101 drivers, which was set last year.

Points are tabulated by Bryan Householder and awarded to the top-10 finishers in the feature at every winged 410 sprint car race on the central Pennsylvania circuit.

There were 96 features run with a single driver being able to hit 79 of those events. There were 17 nights with two tracks running on the same night. Forty-two different drivers won features, which is way up from last year when there were 28 different winners.

Thirteen of those winners were invaders. Four were World of Outlaws racers, four were All Star Circuit of Champions regulars and five were drivers running “true outlaw” schedules.

The series ran at 12 different tracks throughout central Pennsylvania with a few stops in New Jersey. The victories were spread out this year with the top 16 in points all winning at least one feature.

Macri earned the title with 48 top-10 finishes, while Dietrich won five times and collected 47 top-10 finishes. Lance Dewease was third with 36 top-10 finishes and eight victories. Dewease earned a podium finish in a series-best 25 races.

Brent Marks came on strong after returning to his own team in April. He didn‘t run a show and collect any points until rolling out his No. 5 machine at the end of April. Even with the late start, he finished fourth in the standings, with 33 top-10 efforts and 11 victories, which were the most by any driver in the series.

Freddie Rahmer finished fifth with 43 top-10 runs and six victories. Rahmer is leaving the family-owned No. 51 for most of the shows next year and will be driving Rich Eichelberger‘s No. 8.

Chase Dietz with three wins and Alan Krimes with two victories, made their way into the top 10 this year. All Star regular Justin Peck also ran as many shows as possible in the Tom Buch‘s No. 13, while collecting four victories and finishing 10th in the standings.

The top 10 in series points will all receive checks and product discounts courtesy of the series sponsors. Champion Racing Oil, Hoseheads.com, Maxim Chassis, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Capitol Renegade, Fast Tees and J&S Fabrication have all provided toward this point series.  Product discount certificate sponsors include Kreitz Oval Track Parts, Keizer Aluminum Wheels.
