Kurt Caselli Dies After Baja Crash


BAJA CALIFORNIA, Mexico — Popular off-road motorcycle racer Kurt Caselli died Friday night from injuries suffered in a crash during the Baja 1000. Caselli was 30 years old.

The factory KTM rider reportedly hit a booby trap at mile marker 796 on the853.1-mile course. He was flown by helicopter to a local hospital, but died from severe head trauma.

Caselli is a multi-time AMA National Hare & Hound champion, WORCS champion and has won the Desafio Ruta 40 Rally in Argentina.

Caselli won two stages in last year’s Dakar Rally and recently signed a deal with KTM to compete in the FIM Cross Country Rally Championship.
