TOOELE, Utah – Kyle LeDuc completed a weekend sweep of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Pro 4 Unlimited class Sunday afternoon at Miller Motorsports Park.
Carl Renezeder flew into the early lead of the Pro 4 Unlimited event ahead of Doug Fortin, Rob MacCachren, Kyle LeDuc and Rob Naughton. As MacCachren and LeDuc battled with Fortin, Renezeder quickly opened up a gap over the field in the first few laps. Both MacCachren and LeDuc were trying hard to get by, but Fortin was driving very well, and his drive out of the corners made him very tough to pass.
MacCachren did get by with an inside pass through turns one and two on lap three, and LeDuc got by on the outside at turn five on the next lap. Once through, they gradually started to close in on Renezeder. Lap nine saw a full course caution come out for on-track debris, and under yellow, Naughton pulled into the Hot Pits with a right rear flat, which moved Todd LeDuc up to fifth.
Everyone in the top five held their positions on the restart lap, but on the next lap, Renezeder bicycled badly in turn four, got turned around, and the whole field got past him. This helped bunch the frontrunners even closer, and at the next corner, Fortin dove inside of Kyle LeDuc and snagged second spot, and at the end of the lap, it was now MacCachren, Fortin, Kyle LeDuc, Ricky Johnson and Todd LeDuc in the top five. On the following lap MacCachren caught a rut and rolled hard in turn four. While he came up on his wheels, he wasn’t able to get moving again before a full course yellow came out.
