Williams Hoping To Extend Xfinity Series Momentum

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Fresh off his career-best finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Josh Williams is hoping to continue his strong start to the year in Saturday’s Alsco 300 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.

Williams accomplished the goal he set back at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway of breaking into the top 15, coming home 14th at Texas Motor Speedway and earning DGM Racing’s second-highest result on an intermediate race track.

The 25-year-old ran as high as 12th during the 300-mile race at Texas, cracking the top 15 late in the going and holding steady during a six-lap sprint to the checkered flag after a late-race caution flag.

“Man, we just have kept clicking away at things, and I feel like we’re getting close to where we want to be,” said Williams. “Saturday was an exciting race; Texas is a track unto itself. It’s so unique, with the two ends being so different from one another, but it was a blast to run like we did.

“We struggled at the beginning of the race, but we made some big swings at it and some really good adjustments to where we had a good little hot rod on the last green-flag run, and then on that final restart,” Williams added. “The final stage was really good to us, especially after a shock adjustment in the middle of the race that I feel like made a big difference when it came down to crunch time.

“You had to be elbows-up at the end and try to get a lot in a short time, and I think we got after it.”

Heading into this weekend’s stop in Thunder Valley, Williams will welcome two new sponsors – General Formulations and Peg Leg Porker – to his No. 36 DGM Racing Chevrolet team.

Both companies are coming full-circle with Williams, having worked with him when he was driving in the ARCA Menards Series several years back.

General Formulations has signed on as the official vinyl partner of DGM Racing for the rest of the year.

Based in Sparta, Mich., and family-owned and operated, General Formulations manufactures high quality adhesive-backed printable products and is a U.S. manufacturer of digital print media, laminates and mounting films.

They previously worked with Williams when they helped with materials to print his end of the year handprint cars, the traditional conclusion to his season-long children’s hospital tour.

“General Formulations is excited to support Josh Williams and the No. 36 team at DGM Racing. We are proud of Josh’s career and his determination not only to win on the track, but in life as well,” said Matt Edwards, product manager for General Formulations. “He gives back everything and then some. We connected years ago on his hospital tours and are eager to be working with him again.

“Every team member at General Formulations is like family. Josh’s deep commitment and partnership makes it feel like family as well,” Edwards added. “The entire DGM team connects with their sponsors and drives product awareness to our businesses and our distributor network worldwide. We are looking forward to seeing great things from our partnership with them this year.”
