ELKHART LAKE, Wis. – Road course aces Jacques Villeneuve and Max Papis were the fastest in a pair of practice sessions for Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Road America Friday afternoon.
Villeneuve led the first session of the day with a speed of 109.107 mph. Papis led the second and final session at 109.282 mph.
Villenueve, driving the No. 22 Dodge for Roger Penske, and Papis, driving the No. 33 Chevrolet for Richard Childress, will both be looking for their first Nationwide wins Saturday.
Nelson Piquet, Jr. was second fastest in the first session, followed by Papis, Michael McDowell and Ron Fellows.
McDowell was second in the second session ahead of Piquet, Villenueve and Sam Hornish, Jr.
Qualifying at the 4.048-mile road course is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. ET Saturday.
