FONTANA, Calif. – Kyle Busch dominated Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway, earning his third series victory in five events thus far in 2013.

Busch led 92 of 150 laps, but he had to work for the victory late in the event. Sam Hornish Jr. had the race lead when a caution flag for a crash involving Jason White slowed the field on lap 109.

Most of the field came down pit road, with the race leaders taking only fuel. Hornish and teammate Brad Keselowski got off pit road first, with Busch right behind the duo in third.

The field returned to green flag racing with 35 laps left, with Hornish quickly grabbing the lead. Two laps after the restart Busch overtook Keselowski and set his sights on Hornish.

Busch chased Hornish until lap 125 when Busch overtook Hornish to take the race lead. Hornish tried to chase down Busch in the closing laps, but with two laps left Hornish scrubbed the wall exiting turn two.
