RICHMOND, Va. – Brad Keselowski pulled away from Kevin Harvick in the closing laps to win Friday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Int’l Raceway.
Harvick had the dominant car during the 250-lap event, but his car required a few laps to warm up following restarts. Unfortunately for Harvick the final 60 laps featured multiple caution flags, giving Keselowski exactly the opportunity he was looking for.
The action really started to heat up during a restart with 30 laps to go. Keselowski had the lead at the restart, but Harvick quickly took it from him. Keselowski stayed on Harvick’s bumper and coming out of turn two both Harvick and Keselowski got a little sideways, allowing Kyle Busch to drive by both of them on the outside to take the lead.
The action was slowed on lap 228 for the smoking No. 01 Chevrolet driven by Mike Wallace. The field returned to green flag racing on lap 234, but the caution flag flew again one lap later when Wallace’s smoking Chevrolet returned to the race track.
The green flag waved again on lap 238 with Busch managing to hold off Keselowski for the lead, but only momentarily. Two laps later Keselowski made his move, driving below Busch to take the lead with Harvick following closely behind.
