GAFFNEY, S.C. – JD Motorsports with Gary Keller has announced that Scott Lagasse Jr. will pilot the No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro SS during the NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona Int’l Speedway on Feb. 16.
Lagasse Jr. fills in for regular team driver Ross Chastain, who will be driving for Kaulig Racing in the NASCAR Racing Experience 300. Rimrock Devlin, a commercial developer based out of Jacksonville, Fla., will sponsor Lagasse Jr.’s outing in the No. 4 Chevrolet.
Lagasse, the son of road course ace Scott Lagasse Sr., has starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series and the ARCA Racing Series, where he earned two wins. His NXS career highlights include six top 10 finishes and four laps led.
In 2006, Lagasse Jr. was tabbed to become a part of Chip Ganassi Racing’s development program for races in ARCA, Truck and Xfinity Series competition.
Along with his starts in NASCAR, Lagasse Jr. has honed his skills racing Trans Am sports cars on road courses throughout North America. Next weekend’s race in Daytona will be his first Xfinity Series race since 2017, and he is looking forward to being back.
Lagasse Jr.’s last Daytona Xfinity start in 2017 resulted in a sixth-place finish, and he also has four straight top-10 finishes in the Truck Series at Daytona.
“I’m excited to work with the entire JD Motorsports team. Johnny Davis is an experienced and proven owner who has built an impressive organization one brick at a time,” said Lagasse Jr. “I have huge respect for what he has accomplished and am grateful for the opportunity to work with he and his team.
“It’s great to get back in a Xfinity Series car. I’m looking forward to representing Johnny as well as Rimrock Devlin with another solid Daytona race.”
