MOORESVILLE, N.C. – JR Motorsports has confirmed what had been rumored for several days, that Tony Eury, Jr. had parted ways with the company.
Eury had most recently served as as crew chief for Danica Patrick in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
The announcement comes less then a week after Eury’s father, Tony Eury, Sr., left his role as competition director for JR Motorsports.
“Unfortunately Tony Jr. is no longer with the company,” said team co-owner Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in a statement. “I had hoped he would be here for a long time, but as we’ve discussed the direction of JR Motorsports moving forward, it was clear our differences in ideas were too vast to overcome. I love him like a brother, and you’ll never hear me say a bad thing about him. I know he’ll have much success in anything he does going forward.”
Eury and Earnhardt are cousins and the two have worked together for several years, including Eury serving as crew chief for Earnhardt.
Ryan Pemberton, most recently a crew chief at Tommy Baldwin Racing, joined JR Motorsports as the new competition director last week and will serve as the interim crew chief for Patrick and the No. 7 Chevrolet this weekend at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky.
