CONCORD, N.C. – Johnny Sauter will race for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series title after confirming his return to ThorSport Racing Tuesday evening.
Sauter made the announcement on NASCAR RaceHub on FS1. He’ll take over driving duties of the No. 13 Ford F-150 most recently driven by Myatt Snider.
“2019 has me returning home to ThorSport,” Sauter said. “I’m pretty proud of that obviously. Duke and Rhonda (Thorson, team owners) have been great not only to me, but to the Truck Series owning a team, what, 23 years? And at a high level. A very competitive organization.
“I couldn’t be more proud to be going back there to try and race for more wins and a championship.”
The 2016 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series champion spent the last three seasons driving for GMS Racing, earning 13 wins in addition to a championship along the way. He was released by the team in early January in order to make way for reigning series champion Brett Moffitt.
Sauter previously drove for ThorSport Racing from 2009 to 2012, earning six victories.
ThorSport Racing also confirmed that Grant Enfinger, Ben Rhodes Matt Crafton would return for full season campaigns while Snider will contest a partial season after earning the Truck Series Rookie of the Year Award last season.
Enfinger will again drive the No. 98, Crafton will return to the No. 88 while Rhodes will move to the No. 99 after previously driving the No. 41. Snider will drive the No. 27 this year beginning with Friday’s opener at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
