Gus Dean Returns To Truck Series At Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Gus Dean will make his second NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series start of the season for Hill Motorsports in Saturday’s Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Dean, an ARCA Menards Series race winner at Talladega, drove for Hill Motorsports in the season opener at Daytona Int’l Speedway in February.

“I’m looking forward to Talladega this weekend, I always do,” Dean said. “It’s awesome to be reunited with Timmy and the Hill Motorsports team.

“We turned the fastest lap in the Truck Series race at Daytona in February and that’s a credit to the hard work of the team and crew chief Jamie Jones who literally put the truck together in less than two months.”

At Daytona, the 26-year-old Dean was  in the main draft at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, but when a big crash erupted, collecting Dean in the melee. He’s hoping to avoid a similar result this weekend at Talladega.

“You could spend your entire day at the front of the field or the back of the field, make your climb and then get wiped out for doing nothing wrong,” added Dean.

“That’s superspeedway racing though. It is also an opportunity for a team like us to go up there and contend and see if we cannot steal the thunder and win. It happened last year, it can happen again.”

Dean’s truck will carry sponsorship from MASHONIT Apparel Co. Dean will also recognize officer Corey Whelihan – who is not only a Gus Dean fan, but a NASCAR supporter and quickly becoming a social media icon.

Whelihan, a Massachusetts patrolman has topped over 1 million followers on TikTokand 50,000 on Instagram, two platforms he has utilized throughout the pandemic to communicate with people on a variety of levels and topics.

Whelihan’s badge will be showcased on the No. 56 Chevrolet Silverado, along with his name adorning the space above the passenger door.
