MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Martins Motorsports has formed a partnership with Brandonbilt Motorsports that will see Brandon Brown pilot the No. 44 Martins Motorsports Chevrolet in select NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events.
Brown’s first race in the No. 44 will be during the season opening event at Daytona Int’l Speedway on Feb. 24. He finished fourth at Daytona Int’l Speedway last season.
“It just makes a lot of sense for everyone involved,” said Martins Motorsports owner Craig Martins. “I got to know Jerry Brown pretty well last year and talked about partnering up for this season. It’s a couple of small teams working together.”
With Martins Motorsports still searching for a sponsor for 2017, the partnership with Brandonbilt Motorsports allows the team to relieve some of the financial stresses of running a full season.
Tommy Joe Martins, who drove the No. 44 throughout 2016, said Sunday he has secured a ride for Daytona and will announce that later this week.
“I got an offer that was too good to pass up,” Tommy Joe Martins said. “Still haven’t released the details on it, but I’m pretty sure we’re going to do that this week. Really excited for this opportunity and I think my fans will be as well.
“Not going to lie, it’s going to be weird seeing Brandon in the No. 44,” Tommy Joe Martins continued. “It’s going to be strange not heaving Kevin Eagle’s voice in the radio. We went through a lot together last year. But I Know Brandon is a good driver. He ran a great race in Daytona last year. He’s going to give them a shot for a great finish. I know the guys are looking forward to working with him.”
