Spring Sizzler Postponed By Rain Again

STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. – Due to the rain expected this Friday, the NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Whelen Modified Tour 200 has been moved to Saturday afternoon, May 11.

All five of Stafford’s weekly divisions will compete in a feature only format with feature racing slated to begin at 1:15 p.m. The 48th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Whelen Modified Tour 200 is scheduled to roll off at 4:45 p.m.

This is the third time the NAPA Spring Sizzler has been postponed because of weather. It was originally scheduled for April 28 before rain pushed it to May 5. More weather on May 5 forced officials to postpone it until May 10. Now the event will be held May 11 because of forecasted rain.

All tickets purchased for the NAPA Spring Sizzler will be honored Saturday, May 11.  NAPA Auto Parts ticket holder buffet will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11.  Stafford’s five weekly divisions will compete in a feature only format with the Top-18 in points locked into their respective feature events. Consi’s will be held for SK and SK Lights if needed.

The track will be open on Friday, May 10 until 6 p.m. for trailer parking and the track office will be open until 5 p.m. for pit band exchange and ticket sales. Pit gates will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning with practice for Stafford’s weekly divisions scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at 12:35 p.m. General admission gates will open at 10:30 a.m. as well.

The Open Modified 80 event scheduled for May 1h has been moved to May 24 in conjunction with Dunleavy’s Truck and Trailer Repair Modifiedz Night.

“We appreciate all of our teams continuing to work with us,” explained Stafford GM Mark Arute.  “This weather has been unprecedented and we want to ensure we get the Spring Sizzler in this weekend.  With the forecast calling for rain throughout the day and evening on Friday it made the most sense to move the event to Saturday.  We apologize for any inconvenience, one thing we can’t control is the weather.  Hope to see everyone at the track Saturday.”
