DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — NASCAR has penalized the No. 42 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West team for rules violations committed June 6 at Iowa Speedway.
The body for the car driven by Taylor Cuzick was confiscated during pre-event inspection.
The No. 42 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); Section 12-4I (any determination by NASCAR Officials that Race Equipment used in the Event does not conform to the NASCAR Rules detailed in Section 20C of the NASCAR Rule Book, or has not been approved by NASCAR prior to the Event.); and Section 20C-2.1B (the Grand National-Approved Composite Body must remain as manufactured and must meet all other specifications as set forth in Section 20C of the NASCAR Rule Book. Alterations, that in the judgment of NASCAR Officials were made to enhance performance, will not be permitted) of the 2013 NASCAR rule book. The violations were discovered during opening-day inspection.
Charles Carruthers, crew chief of the No. 42 car, has been fined $2,500, suspended from NASCAR until the completion of the next two NASCAR K&N Pro Series West races, suspended from NASCAR until the fine is paid, and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31, 2013.
