Jimmy Blewett won’t return to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour with his family owned team in 2014 after confirming to RaceDayCT.com that the race team he drives for and that his grandfather John Blewett Sr. owns will be shutting down.
Blewett ran a part-time schedule in 2013 after running the full schedule in 2012. He indicated that the financial burden of keeping the team afloat while also finding the people to help on race weekends was becoming too much to handle.
He indicated that he may return to the series next year driving for a different team, but the five-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race winner won’t be driving a family owned car again. He plans to spend most of his time competing in dirt modified events in New Jersey next year.
