That minor mistake sealed Busch’s victory as he crossed the finish line .834-second ahead of Hornish. It was Busch’s sixth NASCAR Nationwide Series victory at Auto Club Speedway and the ninth-straight victory for Joe Gibbs Racing at the two-mile facility.
“This is awesome,” Busch said from victory lane. “Sam man, he is putting on a whole new game this year. These guys better watch out as they go after the championship. He is doing a great job.”
Hornish’s second-place finish continued a great start to the season for the driver of the No. 12 Ford Mustang. He now holds a 28-point advantage in the series standings over Saturday’s third-place finisher Regan Smith.
Parker Kligerman and Austin Dillon completed the top five in Saturday’s race.
