LONG POND, Pa. — Pocono Raceway has followed in Martinsville (Va.) Speedway’s footsteps by shifting qualifying for both its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events to Saturday.
“The move to Saturday qualifying, traditionally held on Friday, will allow more race fans to enjoy the competition to determine the pole position and the other starting positions,” said Pocono Raceway President Brandon Igdalsky. “Our fans will enjoy a full day of racing action as Sprint Cup qualifying joins an already exciting Saturday schedule at Pocono Raceway.”
Qualifying for the June 12 Pocono 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will be held on June 11. The Pocono 200 ARCA Racing Series event will follow qualifying.
Qualifying for the Pennsylvania 500 will be held Aug. 6 with the race to follow Aug. 7. Aug. 6 will also feature a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event and an ARCA Racing Series event.
Martinsville Speedway recently announced that it would be shifting qualifying for the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 from Friday, April 1 to Saturday, April 2.
