DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — NASCAR unveiled the scheduled for the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Thursday with the Truck slate expanding to 25 races for the first time since 2011.
Both the Xfinity Series and the Truck Series will compete at North Carolina’s Rockingham Speedway April 18-19.
The Xfinity Series last competed at the venue from 1982 to 2004; the Craftsman Truck Series makes its return after a two-year stint in 2012 and 2013.
The Rockingham events will be run under the direction of Track Enterprises, which is led by longtime short-track promoter Bob Sargent.
“The entire Track Enterprises team is eager and proud to be working with Dan Lovenheim and everyone at Rockingham Speedway to bring the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series back to one of the most storied venues in NASCAR’s proud history,” said Sargent, President, Track Enterprises. “We are very fortunate to work with the professional staff at NASCAR and the incredible drivers and teams who will be racing with us. This is shaping up to be a great Easter weekend for the fans and everyone involved.”
“Rockingham Speedway has a storied history in NASCAR, so we look forward to the return of the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series to the famed race track,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Executive Vice President, Chief Venue and Racing Innovation Officer. “The holiday race weekend at The Rock will offer the opportunity to showcase the future stars of the sport at a venue with a rich history.”
Bristol Motor Speedway will become the opening race in the Xfinity Series Playoffs on Friday, Sept. 12.
The Truck Series schedule will expand from 23 to 25 races, a testament to the demand for its unique style of racing and intense competition.
For the first time, NASCAR heads to the iconic 1.5-mile road course at Lime Rock Park when the Truck Series travels for a standalone event at the Connecticut venue on Saturday, June 28.
“Lime Rock Park has been working closely with NASCAR leadership over the last two years to ultimately propel the incredible opportunity to host the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at the Park in 2025,” said Dicky Riegel, Lime Rock Park CEO. “To say that we are excited about this announcement is a major understatement, as this will surely be the biggest event in Lime Rock Park’s history. The combination of the incredible NASCAR fan base in New England with the spectacular beauty of Lime Rock will create motorsports magic in Connecticut.”
Lime Rock Park has a long history of hosting NASCAR events, having held 20 races over a 19-year span from 1993 through 2011.
The Xfinity Series kicks off Feb. 15 at Daytona Int’l Speedway and concludes Nov. 1 at Phoenix Raceway. Meanwhile, the Trucks open Feb. 14 at Daytona and close Oct. 31 at Phoenix.
