LEBANON, Tenn. – A past NASCAR Xfinity Series winner at Nashville Superspeedway, Kyle Busch was the man to beat during Friday’s lone practice session for the inaugural Tennessee Lottery 250.
Busch, who was victorious at the 1.33-mile concrete oval in 2009, returned to the track Friday and turned a lap of 30.746 seconds (155.728 mph) with the No. 54 M&M’s Toyota Supra to lead the 42 drivers in attendance. He also led the 10-lap average category at 153.479 mph.
The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion is seeking his milestone 100th Xfinity Series victory in Saturday’s 188-lap race.
PRACTICE RESULTS: Tennessee Lottery 250
Trailing the all-time Xfinity Series wins leader was his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Harrison Burton, who posted the second-fastest lap of 30.978 seconds (154.561 mph) with the No. 20 DEX Imaging Toyota Supra.
A.J. Allmendinger, who confirmed a return to the Xfinity Series for 2022 earlier in the day, was third (30.998/154.462) for Kaulig Racing ahead of a third Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Supra driven by Daniel Hemric (31.033/154.287). The Team Penske Ford Mustang of Austin Cindric (31.037/154.267) closed the top five.
Sixth through 10th were Josh Berry, Riley Herbst, Brandon Jones, Tommy Joe Martins and Ryan Sieg.
Notables deeper in the running order were JR Motorsports teammates Noah Gragson (12th) and Justin Allgaier (13th), Tyler Reddick (18th), Brandon Brown (28th) and Landon Cassill (35th).
