Parker Retzlaff surprised in NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying to score his first career pole position for Saturday’s ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway.
The Jordan Anderson Racing driver had a fastest speed of 120.428 mph, topping JR Motorsports’ Brandon Jones by 0.096 seconds.
It was the team’s first pole position since their inception in 2021.
Cole Custer was the lone Ford in the top 10 in third position, followed by defending Richmond winner Chandler Smith and Justin Allgaier.
Full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Corey Heim qualified sixth, with a trio of Chevrolets behind him in A.J. Allmendinger, Jesse Love and Parker Kligerman.
Aric Almirola rounded out the top 10.
In his first Xfinity Series start, super late model driver Bubba Pollard starts 37th after timing in quickest in practice earlier in the day.
