LONG POND, Pa. – Harrison Burton will lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to the green flag for Sunday’s Pocono Green 225 Recycled by J.P. Mascaro & Sons at Pocono Raceway.
Burton, the driver of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Supra, received the pole courtesy of the highest metric score among the 40 cars entered to compete.
Lap speed is weighted at 15 percent, previous race finish at 25 percent for the driver and owner results and owner points position at 35 percent to calculate the final metric score.
Burton earned the pole with a metric score of 3.55, factoring in his recent third-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway, the second-fastest lap from that event and his fifth-place seeding in the owner point standings after 16 of 33 races this season.
He’ll be joined on the front row Sunday by JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier, with A.J. Allmendinger, Brandon Jones and Jeb Burton starting third through fifth, respectively.
Daniel Hemric, Noah Gragson, Michael Annett, Jeremy Clements and Riley Herbst fill out the first five rows of the starting lineup.
Series point leader Austin Cindric starts 13th, while standout rookie and two-time season winner Ty Gibbs rolls off 14th.
Sam Mayer grids up 20th for his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in the No. 8 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.
