LAKE WALES, Fla. — Nathan Byrd is set to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with DGM Racing at Portland (Ore.) Int’l Raceway, the team announced Wednesday morning.
Byrd will pilot DGM Racing’s No. 92 Chevrolet Camaro with sponsorship from CleanCore Solutions Inc., the developer of the patented aqueous ozone technology that works as an all-purpose cleaner.
“CleanCore brings a fresh approach to hospitality cleaning with aqueous ozone, and Nathan Byrd brings a fresh face to NASCAR. Together we’re redefining standards and leaving a lasting impression,” said Doug Moore, Chief Executive Officer of CleanCore. “As Byrdman gears up for his NASCAR debut CleanCore stands beside him, just as we stand by our commitment to sustainable cleaning solutions for the hospitality industry. It’s a race towards a cleaner, greener future!”
Completing more than 300 races in the first four years of his career, Byrd is no stranger to piloting race cars. In his young career, Byrd has driven more than 25 different types of cars, tackled 60 different race tracks and claimed more than 160 podium finishes (102 of which he’s won).
“As a kid we have a few dreams and a couple chances in life to live out those dreams and make a difference,” Moore said. “When we learned of Nathan’s story and his journey to NASCAR we saw a lot of what our company represents in his debut; one person fighting against very big odds, and just like him we aim to change the way people think.
“That’s why we couldn’t be happier to be a part of Nathan’s story as he strives to do just that.”
Racing for a family-owned team at the NASCAR level will provide a sense of familiarity to Byrd as he gears up for a new form of motorsports against some of NASCAR’s rising stars.
“I’m ecstatic to have CleanCore Solutions on board with me and DGM for my NASCAR debut!” Byrd said. “It means the world to have their support and partnership not only on the motorsports front, but the family business front as well. Their all-in-one multi-purpose cleaning product is revolutionary and something I wish I had my hands on during my days of janitor and housekeeping work at the family’s hotels.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled for this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to making the CleanCore and DGM teams proud!”
Although Portland will be his first attempt in a NASCAR stock car, Byrd has proven to be a very skilled and diverse driver. While most of his starts have come on road courses, he has competed in more than 100 races at 33 different paved and dirt oval tracks.
“We’re always proud to welcome new companies to the sport, but this time we have the honor of welcoming a new driver as well!” DGM Racing team owner Mario Gosselin said. “Nathan has a very impressive track record, and we look forward to adding another type of car to his extensive resume and teaching him the ropes of NASCAR as he embarks on the next step in his career.”
Byrd will hit the track in Portland on June 1.
