Love Snags Another Pole, Leads RCR Talladega Front Row

For the fifth time this season, Richard Childress Racing’s Jesse Love will start on pole position.

He’ll lead the field to the green flag for Saturday’s United Rentals 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway alongside teammate Austin Hill.

Love scored his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series victory in April at Talladega.

Behind the RCR front row, Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Chandler Smith and Sheldon Creed make up row two. A.J. Allmendinger qualified fifth for Kaulig Racing while Parker Kligerman starts sixth.

Riley Herbst and Shane van Gisbergen qualified seventh and eighth on the grid, with last week’s winner at Kansas Speedway, Aric Almirola, starting ninth.

Almirola will be forced to start at the rear of the field and serve a pass-through penalty at the drop of the green flag, however, due to his No. 20 Toyota’s windshield not being flush with the body surface.

Cole Custer rounds out the top-10 qualifiers.

Other playoff drivers that qualified outside the top 10 include: Sam Mayer (12th), Justin Allgaier (14th) and Sammy Smith (27th).Â
