SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Indianapolis 500 veteran Katherine Legge has landed a ride in the Aug. 12 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.
The Pennzoil 150 will be part of the Brickyard Weekend, which features the NTT IndyCar Series, NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Legge will drive the No. 07 Chevrolet fielded by SS Green Light Racing on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course at IMS. It’s one of four drivers she will drive in the series this season.
Legge raced in this year’s Indianapolis 500 and is also scheduled to compete in the Sept. 15-17 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event at IMS.
“The Indy 500 made me realize that life and racing careers are too short not to go for it,” Legge said. “My interest and passion are to continue to break new ground in motorsports. I’ve been proactive over the last year in thinking about what I want to do in my career and how I can accomplish those things.”
British driver Legge has made three starts in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” with a career-best finish of 22nd as a rookie in 2012. She made her first start since 2013 last May with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
NASCAR is one of the many series Legge has raced in during her diverse motorsports career. She competes full time in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the No. 66 Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22.
