MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Parker Kligerman is back as a full-time driver for the first time since 2013.
Kligerman was named to team owner Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Racing NASCAR Xfinity Series team to compete for the championship in 2023. The announcement was made Saturday morning at Martinsville Speedway.
Kligerman’s Chevrolet will be sponsored by Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers.
“This is so awesome,” Kligerman said. “The coolest part about this was getting the call. I won at Mid-Ohio and race in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series early this year, and I got to victory lane. I finally get my phone back and there’s a voicemail and it’s Keith Barnwell, who is the GM here at Big Machine Racing.
“I listened to it, and he said, ‘Hey, this the call you would like to get after winning. I know you’re in victory lane, but would you like to race Talladega?’
“Winning works.
“We got to race Talladega. That went awesome. I talked to Scott Borchetta and asked, ‘Hey, what’s the future here? What are you guys looking to do?’ They have the right foundation is so many respects. Scott said, ‘Hey, let’s go. What, what if we went ran for a championship?’ And I was like, ‘That sounds like a great idea.
“I think we’ve got everything to do it.”
Kligerman has competed in 56 NASCAR Xfinity Series races over eight years. He has contested 110 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races over 12 year and has three races, including this year’s win at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
“Our affiliation with Richard Childress Racing this year and everything that Richard has provided for (crew chief) Patrick Donahue and the team, we’ve proven that we can run up front, getting that first win with Tyler Reddick in Texas,” said Borchetta, one of the leading entrepreneurs in the music industry. “I’ve always been a fan of Parker. I think he’s coming to us at the perfect time with his talent and his experience, he is great inside the car and outside the car.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun, too. We’re going to make a lot of noise about this series. We’re going to make a lot of noise about our products, and we’re excited to go, to get going.
“I wish he were in the car today.”
