AVONDALE, Ariz. – A pair of Joe Gibbs Racing teammates will lead the field to the green flag for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway.
Daniel Hemric received the pole courtesy of the highest metric score among the 40 cars entered to compete. He’ll be joined on the front row by Brandon Jones.
Lap speed is weighted at 15 percent, previous race finish at 25 percent for the driver and owner results and owner points position at 35 percent to calculate the final metric score.
Hemric earned the pole with a metric score of 2.3, factoring in his runner-up finish from Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, the fourth-fastest lap from the event and his runner-up seeding in the point standings after four of 33 races this season.
Behind Hemric and Jones, Austin Cindric and Las Vegas winner A.J. Allmendinger will share the second row of the grid, with Justin Haley completing the top five.
Cousins Jeb Burton and Harrison Burton will start sixth and seventh, respectively, with the JR Motorsports trio of Michael Annett, Josh Berry and Noah Gragson closing the top 10.
