MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Harrison Burton will lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to green for Friday night’s Cook Out 250 at Martinsville Speedway.
Burton, the driver of the No. 20 Toyota Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing, received the pole courtesy of the highest metric score among the 40 cars entered to compete.
Lap speed is weighted at 15 percent, previous race finish at 25 percent for the driver and owner results and owner points position at 35 percent to calculate the final metric score.
Burton earned the pole with a metric score of 3.15, factoring in his third-place finish from Atlanta Motor Speedway, the fourth-fastest lap from that event and his third-place seeding in the point standings after six of 33 races this season.
He’ll be joined on the front row by Atlanta winner Justin Allgaier, with A.J. Allmendinger, Daniel Hemric and Justin Haley filling out the top five starters.
Sixth through 10th on the Xfinity Series grid will be point leader Austin Cindric, Riley Herbst, Noah Gragson, Myatt Snider and Michael Annett.
Daytona Road Course winner Ty Gibbs, returning to the seat of the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Supra, starts 16th in Saturday’s event.
