TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec — Marc-Antoine Camirand captured the E3 Spark Plug Pole Award for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres.
Driving the No. 96 GM Paillé Chevrolet, Camirand turned a lap of 1:06.962. He is the defending champion in the streets of Trois-Rivières. Last year, he won the prestigious race from pole.
“We had a great qualifying session,” said Marc-Antoine. “I’m really happy with the GM Paillé team, they once again for gave us a good car. I think the track had less rubber than usual because of yesterday’s heavy rain, but we were still able to set a good time.”
Kevin Lacroix will start second aboard the No. 74 NAPA Racing Dodge, with a qualifying time only 0.368 seconds behind Camirand.
Alex Tagliani, who is on the hunt for his fourth win in the streets of Trois-Rivières, qualified his No. 80 St. Hubert/BFL/ArobasPersonel/Repentigny Chevrolet third.
Andrew Ranger placed his No. 27 GM Paillé Chevrolet fourth, with Alex Labbé rounding off the top five in his No. 36 AB Express/VR Victoriaville/Lussier Chevrolet.
Thirty-two cars made qualifying attempts on the unique street course.
