Winning the season-opening Daytona 500 was easily the highlight of 2023 for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and the JTG Daughtery team.
It was the sole victory of the season for the No. 47 Chevrolet driver, but certainly one to remember as Stenhouse broke a 199-race win drought with the Daytona triumph.
“Man, this is unbelievable,” Stenhouse said at Daytona. “This was the site of my last win back in 2017. We’ve worked really hard. We had a couple shots last year to get a win and fell short. It was a tough season, but man, we got it done — Daytona 500.”
It was the first Cup Series win for the JTG Daugherty operation since A.J. Allemendinger’s 2014 victory at Watkins Glen and their second win overall.
Stenhouse also racked up two top fives, nine top 10s and led 39 laps during the season.
His average finish was 17.8.
