CONCORD, N.C. – Ryan Blaney will lead the field to the green flag during Wednesday’s NASCAR Cup Series Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
The Team Penske driver secured the pole via a random draw that set the starting lineup for the 500-lap race at the half-mile asphalt oval. Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola will start Wednesday evening’s race from the second position.
Like previous events featuring no qualifying, positions 1-12 were determined via random draw for charter teams in those positions in owner points. Positions 13-24 and 25-36 were determined the same way, with positions 37-40 filled by open, no-charter teams based on their positions in owner points.
Blaney’s Team Penske teammate Joey Logano will start third, followed by Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr., Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Alex Bowman, Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick.
