23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick was quick to clear the cobwebs from the NASCAR Cup Series off-weekend, as he blasted to the top of the timesheets during practice at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday evening.
The No. 45 Toyota set a fast lap of 29.51 seconds (162.25 mph), which was .154 seconds faster than Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19. Truex is the most recent winner in the Cup Series, with his June 11 triumph at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway.
A trio of Chevrolet drivers completed the top five, with Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, Legacy Motor Club’s Erik Jones and Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron filing in place.
Bubba Wallace, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Chris Buescher and A.J. Allmendinger also found speed early, as the group completed the top 10 during practice.
The 36-car field will return to the 1.33-mile track to qualify at 1 p.m. (ET) on Saturday. The Cup Series will take the green on the 16th race of the season, the Ally 400, at 7 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
