Greg Sacks
Best known as an R&D driver for a number of teams and his prowess behind the wheel of a NASCAR modified, Greg Sacks had his shining moment at NASCAR’s top level on July 4, 1985 during the Firecracker 400 at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
Driving an unsponsored research-and-development car for DiGard Motorsports, Sacks started ninth and stayed in contention for most of the race. During the final 60 laps, Sacks battled Bill Elliott for the lead, taking the top spot for the final time on lap 152 and leading the final nine laps for his only Cup Series victory.
