Michael McDowell will be without crew chief Blake Harris for the next four races, following an L2-level penalty that was found at the NASCAR R&D Center following Sunday’s race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.
The penalty comes under Sections 14.1 C, D and Q as well as Sections 14.5 A and B in the NASCAR Rule Book. Those rules apply to the body and overall vehicle assembly rules surrounding modification of a single source supplied part.
Harris has also been fined $100,000, along with the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team losing 100 driver and owner points.
If McDowell wins a race within the next five races to make the playoffs, the team will also be docked 10 playoff points.
McDowell finished 6th on Sunday at Pocono, after both Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch were disqualified.
