LONG POND, Pa. – Kyle Larson will start his quest for a fourth straight points-paying NASCAR Cup Series victory from the Busch Pole Saturday at Pocono Raceway.
Larson, the driver of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, received the Busch Pole Award for the Pocono Organics CBD 325 courtesy of the highest metric score among the 38 cars entered to compete.
Lap speed is weighted at 15 percent, previous race finish at 25 percent for the driver and owner results and owner points position at 35 percent to calculate the final metric score.
Larson earned the pole with a metric score of 1.35, factoring in his recent win at Nashville Superspeedway, the fastest lap from that event and his runner-up seeding in the point standings after 17 of 36 races this season.
The Elk Grove, Calif., native will be joined by his Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron on the front row Saturday, with the Ford Mustangs of Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano sharing the second row of the grid and Kyle Busch’s Toyota Camry starting fifth.
Ross Chastain, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kurt Busch, Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin close out the top 10 starting spots.
Martin Truex Jr., a past Pocono Raceway winner, rolls off 15th for the first of two races on back-to-back days at the Tricky Triangle.
