Cole Custer will pilot the No. 51 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing at three NASCAR Cup Series races this season.
The full-time Xfinity Series driver, who wheels the No. 00 for Stewart-Haas Racing, will jump into the cockpit of the No. 51 this coming weekend for the Quaker State 400 at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway. The 260-lap race will mark Custer’s first Cup Series start since the season finale last year.
The remaining two races included on his slate with RWR are New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 16 and Pennsylvania’s Pocono Raceway on July 23.
Custer was a Cup Series regular from 2020 to 2022, driving the No. 41 for Stewart-Haas Racing.
Along with being proclaimed Rookie of the Year in 2020, Custer also won at NASCAR’s premier level at Kentucky Speedway during his first full season.
However, in 2018, the California native made three starts in the Cup Series with RWR. Their best finish was 25th during Custer’s debut race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.
