Briscoe Notches First Career Pole In Gateway

Chase Briscoe was the class of the field in qualifying, earning his first career NASCAR Cup Series pole for Sunday’s Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

The Stewart-Haas Racing driver edged out Team Penske’s Austin Cindric with a lap time of 32.544.

“I got really loose getting into three and felt like I probably gave away what advantage I had in one and two,” Briscoe said. “(It’s) just a testament to these Highpoint.com guys, they did a really good job of bringing a really good race car. We were obviously really good at Phoenix, and have a pretty close package of that. So, see if we can have the same result as Phoenix, we got the best starting spot for that. Looking forward to tomorrow for sure.”

Toyota’s Christopher Bell, the Chevrolet of Tyler Reddick, and Ford driver Ryan Blaney followed suit in the top-five.
