DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Austin Dillon will start from pole during Sunday’s Advance Auto Parts Clash at Daytona Int’l Speedway after a random draw determined the starting order on Saturday.
Young racers competing in USAC .25 Midget Series competition at Daytona Int’l Speedway this weekend pulled the numbers that determined the starting order for the 75-lap exhibition race.
Dillon will be joined on the front row for the race by Denny Hamlin. Joey Logano, Erik Jones and Jimmie Johnson will start third through fifth, respectively. Martin Truex Jr., Kasey Kahne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson complete the top-10.
The starting order for the rest of the 17-car field features Ryan Newman in 11th, followed by Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Ryan Blaney, Jamie McMurray and Brad Keselowski.
Three drivers – Dale Earnhardt Jr., Danica Patrick and Matt Kenseth – were eligible for the race after winning a pole last year or being a former Daytona 500 pole winner but will not compete on Sunday. Earnhardt retired at the end of last season, Kenseth does not have a ride this year and Patrick’s team did not prepare a car for the race.
