Sanchez Snags First Career Truck Pole At Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Young Nick Sanchez of Miami, Florida won the pole in his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start Friday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway.

The 21-year-old driver completed a lap at 181.899 miles per hour around the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway and will lead the field to the green flag to start Friday night’s NextEra Energy 250.

The 100-lap race starts Friday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. 

“I’d like to thank all of my guys on the Gainbridge Chevy, because of them, this happened,” Sanchez said. “They built a very fast truck.

“As far as the race, this is just half the battle. It’s a great position starting out, but these races get crazy at the end.”

Ty Majeski of ThorSport Racing was second (180.785 mph) in a Ford followed by Jack Wood (180.112 mph) in the Kyle Busch Motorsports Chevrolet, Christian Eckes (179.695 mph) in the McAnally-Hilgermann Racing Chevrolet and Corey LaJoie (179.183 mph) in the Spire Motorsports Chevrolet.
