KANSAS CITY, Kan. — John Hunter Nemechek was the last driver to hit the track during qualifying for Saturday night’s Heart of America 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and he ran the fastest lap of the session Saturday afternoon at Kansas Speedway.
Driving the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 4 Toyota, Nemechek turned a 30.570-second lap of the 1.5-mile track to win the pole for the event.
Nemechek dominated last week’s Truck Series race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway en route to his first victory of the season.
Corey Heim, driving a second KBM truck, was second, with ThorSport driver Ty Majeski completing a sweep of the top three for Toyota.
Zane Smith was fourth in a Front Row Motorsports Ford, with Bubba Wallace fifth in the Halmar Racing Toyota. Wallace was subbing for Stewart Friesen, who had travel issues en route to Kansas Speedway.
