Along with being a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver for ThorSport Racing, Ty Majeski has long been a late model racer.
There’s little doubt that short-track knowledge came in handy during Friday’s qualifying session for the Long John Silver’s 200 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway — which is 0.526 miles in length.
Majeski set the pace in his No. 98 Ford, traveling the half-mile in 19.417 seconds (97.523 mph).Â
Christian Eckes will start alongside Majeski on the front row of Friday night’s race after qualifying second with a 19.437-second lap (97.422 mph) in his No. 19 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet.Â
Truck Series rookie Layne Riggs, who was a former CARS Tour star, qualified third. Corey Heim and Nick Sanchez completed the top five, with Ben Rhodes, Jake Garcia, Dean Thompson, Tyler Ankrum and Jack Wood filing into the top 10.Â
The entire field will take the green flag at 7:30 p.m. (ET) at “The Paperclip.”Â
