CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car champion Carson Kvapil will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on Sept. 14, during the UNOH 200 presented by Ohio Logistics.
Kvapil will pilot the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, sponsored by Hendrickcars.com.
“Bono, (Mike) Greci and all the guys are awesome to work with and I can’t wait to work with them at the track,” Kvapil said. “I’m super excited for the opportunity to drive the No. 7 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Silverado at Bristol.”
The 20-year-old wheels the No. 8 late model full time for JR Motorsports in the CARS Tour and currently leads the points in the late model stock car division. He is also the son of Travis Kvapil, who won the Truck Series championship in 2003.
To better prepare for his first Truck Series race, the younger Kvapil shared that he has been logging simulator time with crew chiefs Kevin “Bono” Manion and Andrew Overstreet.
“I’m ready to hit the track for my first start,” he noted.
Among his most notable late model wins are the 2021 North/South Challenge at Nashville (Tenn.) Fairgrounds Speedway, as well as last year’s Racetrack Revival race at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway.
“We’ve been having a lot of fun and a fair amount of success with our truck program this season. Winning at North Wilkesboro with Kyle Larson was definitely a highlight, but it has really been fun seeing what some of these younger guys can do,” Manion said. “Layne Riggs and Derek Kraus did a really good job for us.
“We’re looking for the same type of thing out of Carson.”
