HOMESTEAD, Fla. — With three races remaining in the fight for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship, Corey Heim claimed the pole for Saturday’s Baptist Health 200 during qualifying on Friday at Homestead Miami Speedway.
The Toyota driver turned a best lap of 32.715 seconds (165.062 mph) to earn his first pole of the season and the seventh of his career in the series. It was also his first pole at the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
“It was a good day for us,” Heim said. “We’ve been so successful on these intermediate tracks in this 2024 campaign for TRICON Garage. (I’m) Always excited to get back to Homestead. It’s a driver’s favorite (track), including me and many others. So, (I) have high hopes coming into this race with our intermediate program being so good with TRICON and Homestead being another of those. It’s obviously paid off so far, just need to follow up with a win tomorrow. That’s the goal, but always satisfied with our TRICON Garage guys. Our Safelite Tundra TRD Pro was good today.”
Heim’s teammate Taylor Gray, also a playoff qualified driver, will start second in the No. 17 Toyota.
Playoff drivers round out the top five with Chevrolet racers Rajah Caruth and Nick Sanchez starting from the second row, with Ford’s Ty Majeski fifth.
